The Sarrabus region contains vast areas of unspoilt natural

The area offers mountains, caves, alto Plano, gorges,

well as Nuraghi, Domus de Janus and many other archaeological

At all times of the year Sardinia reveals it's beauty,
in February blooming almond trees coat the countryside
in white flowers while from March to May the fields are
|
| blanketed in a swathe of red
poppies and yellow buttercups with wild rosemary, fennel,

Day trips and beaches Heading south from Muravera are the sandy bays of Feraxi and the surrounding islands. About 20 kms south from Muravera is Capo Ferrato. This famous diving spot has been declared a nature sanctuary with basalt rocks, small white sandy coves and pine trees. Past the headland of Capo Ferrato is the Costa Rei with miles of beautiful sandy beaches.
|
| Crystal clear, turquoise waters are typical for this coastal region, which is famous for both its white sand and broad coastline. Numerous wetlands provide a sanctuary for rare birds. |
|
|
Continuing with the coast road from the
Costa Rei to Villasimius along
the breathtaking coast road you'll pass many inviting
coves and beaches well worth stopping for a swim or a
picnic under the shade of the pine trees. From the headland
you can see the islands of Serpentara
and Cavoli in the distance.
The stretch of water between the two islands is shallow
and has witnessed many shipwrecks over the years. |
Heading north
from Muravera a nice day trip to Jerzu
is recommended. Sharp pinnacles of rock are an impressive
sight as they emerge from the marquis on the mountainous
approach to Jerzu. Jerzu's economy is based mainly on
viticulture and small vineyards cling to the steep slopes
around the town. Most famous in Sardinia is the red Cannonau
DOC, which is produced in this area.
The visit of the nearby "La Grotta di Su Marmuri" takes
approximately one hour (guided) and is well worth seeing.
An information booklet with a guide to restaurants, shops,
the area in general, daytrips and lots of more information
is provided in every room and apartment. |

Cagliari Cagliari, one of the oldest cities in Europe is easy to reach and well worth an extensive visit. It has a little bit of everything: the cosmopolitan character of a port city, the luxuries of an Italian shopping Mecca, Spanish ambience in the old quarter and the village-like character of a small Sardinian town. It is a pleasant place with a warm atmosphere, open and accessible. |
| High above the city is the Citadel Museum. This landmark is not only interesting for its collection of cultural treasures, but also for its subtropical garden and unparalleled views of the lagoons and sea. A stroll through Cagliari's fish market, the Mercato di San Benedetto, will leave you with lasting memories. During the day crowd's throng along Via Roma, a busy shopping street stopping at the cafes to relax and chat. Stretching out behind are the narrow streets and run-down alleys of the old Marina district. In this area you'll find traditional trattorias and rustic taverns as well as shops selling antiques and local handicrafts.
